new happy owner!!

Hola,

New owner of a white 2004 4.4 with 70k miles.

It was kind of an impulse buy. I didn't get the extended warranty at the Stealership. They were offered 3750 for extra 3 years and 36k miles.

I've been reading everyones' thoughts on extended warranties in old threads. I've had 98 323 and a 04 M3 with warranties never had to use them.

Just feel like I need that piece of mind. :(

Anyways, hello every one!!

Thanks.

The truck is actually for the wife. She was getting tired of driving the baby hauler so we bought this. We didn't really do too much research into X5s. She liked it cause it was white. All our cars are white.

I plan to put some 22s on it in the next week or so.

So what do you guys think? Extended warranty? :dunno:

IMHO, buy an extended warranty before 22's. It will be more useful than rims! Enjoy the new X5!

Welcome!! You said you bought it for your wife, I hope your job doesn't require you to travel out of town frequently. Most guys here are the driver and feel better having the X5 as their daily driver, I'm the same. Do a search and you will see lots of posts where the X5 stranded the wife and kids by the side of the road, not once but several times.

Geez, kinda scared we bought this thing now. I should have done some research before buying. After reading some threads, I probably would have thought about it a little more.

I wouldn't want my wife or kid stranded.

My other BMWs were pretty reliable. An occasional electrical issue here or there.

Maybe I was lucky?

+1

I drove my 3.0 for 7 years and 100K miles. It wasn't worry free by any means, but proper (old school) maintenance, a keen eye for trouble and replacing troubled parts at the first sign of wear or even preventively will treat you to years of service in one of the safest vehicles around.

It never left me on the side of the road, but I did limp it into the shop once or twice.
