Coolant Reservoir tank leak

I've been having problems with the coolant leaking out of the reservoir tank right after driving. It appears that the pressure from the tank would spill out of the lid/top of the reservoir. I do not see any visible cracks from the tank, and I've just had the hoses, fan clutch and radiator replaced not too long ago. I've searched the forum regarding leaks from the top of the reservoir tank but can not pinpoint the actual problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Also, if there is already a DIY thread regarding this issue - Please, post it here. Much appreciated!

Just buy a new cap, that will solve your problem:thumbup:

My 2005 X5 is in the shop right now, getting the coolant reservoir replaced. I never actually saw water leak out, but I was getting "low coolant" frequently, starting a couple weeks ago.

That sounds so simple. Is it because the cap seals are worn out? I've been seeing various posts regarding replacing the whole tank. Not sure if that's what's needed for my dilemma.

Replacing the "whole tank"? It's a 30 minute job.
I did it not long ago.

Thanks Quicksilver. I ordered the parts and it will definitely be a weekend project for me.

Yep, had same issue. It is the seams in the reservoir, they leak after awhile. Easy fix.
