Shipping X5 Front Seats Cverseas to Asia - any ideas how to do this???
 

Need your advice on how to ship these 2 seats to the Philippines guys. My X is an 03 3.0D. I do not have Power seats. I chanced upon these seats in California and want to send them home so that I can replace my non-powered seats. Has anyone had experience in shipping BIG X5 items like these overseas to Asia or UK or EU? What did you guys use? DHL, FedEx, USPS, UPS, other on commercial courier services perhaps? I'd appreciate some advice for this rather crucial endeavour.

OR, should I just take the seats apart and put them in boxes and check them in??? Can this easily be done? :banghead:

if your math is decent you can calculate the head ache of taking em apart + carrying them onto the plane + paying for weight +over sized baggage vs. tying em up + putting in a box + getting rates of shipping from UPS / FedEX. Customs will be enforced i think but its a used item so it wont be much / shouldn't be much.

Go down to long beach harbor and ask for shipping to Asia by boat/ship
Cheaper that way but you will get the item in a month or so..

Here i some food for thought.
1. If you want them to arrive in the same condition you sent them...make sure you crate them. The further south in asia you go, the less care they take of your goods.
2. cheapest is to send with a cargo company, let them know you have a LCL (less than container load) give them the weight and dimensions.
3. if you use UPS for FED EX, research the HTS code prior. They will guess on these much of the time. If you are inspected and the code is incorrect you could get held up for weeks and incur penalties.
4. There WILL be duties incurred.

You can try Forexworld.com and ask them about your situation.

They don't only do balikbayan boxes. They ship almost anything to the Philippines except automobiles.

You can box/crate your items. Afterwards, they'll measure and give you a code.

Not sure how they compare price-wise though.

Good luck and expect more than 30 days by ship.

I had experience using FOREX about 3-4 years ago for some balikbayan boxes hahaha! They arrived a little less than 30 days which was a good deal for me. They're great! Didn't know that they can handle bigger cargo though. I'll try giving them a call. I wish they do crate services as well. Got to find me someone who does crates now if FOREX works out :) Thanks Twins!

Had them boxed and ready to ship to the Philippines. Will let you guys know exactly how I did it so that everyone learns first hand from my experience ;)

you can try UMAC they have jumbo box $145 here in vancouver, if you disassemble the seat & the back it should both fit in one box, make sure you stuff it with some can goods, chocolate, etc....lol
