DBlock-My Maaan! THat looks AWESOME!! Great work!
A few ideas to reply to: DJBock- The reason there was only one all-amber lens for yours was presumably that it's a non-Sport model, I assume (or at least the lights are from a non-sport). In that case, I'd agree-just clear the whole thing, since there's no two-tone piece to trim, as DBlock did (those were sports). Drex- Thanks for saving me some time on that- I have the 2-tone sport side-lens, so was planning to Dremel it- for the last day or two, I was considering trying to buy just the side clear lens from a Euro model, but apparently it can't be found- You've saved me some time ferreting around, so Thanks! Fulanito- Your ride is so freaking sweeet! But that's a great idea to clear your spare OEMs. Guess it'll take some doing to find the components. One idea crossed my mind that might help. I've seen e39 Euro headlight enclosures that only have the front & side lens & black case- No hardware/bulbs etc inside. They run about $100-160/pr. Does anyone know if the side clear lens of those enclosures would fit? Here's an example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...e=STRK:MEWA:IT OH, someone asked about the blue-look of the side trim in my signature- That's a reflection of the water actually in that stock pic- Mine have the two-tone sport trims-for now... ;) Bar none, this board has to have some of the tightest X5's around. DBlock, the work you did came out top-notch!! Enjoy! M |
Mindfull: I think I'm leaning more towards the idea behind MysticblueX3's headlights, and just paint the amber piece silver. As you know, I was planning on doing that with the black interior on the housing, so I might as well due both at one time. Thanks for the compliments!!!

how did you connect your wires to the parking light
|
i dunno if it was discussed yet or not. but the black piece that you guy sare talkin about is held in by screws. DONT PULL ON IT. cause it will break and you neverknow if gluewill holdit in. i believe there are 5 screws. if you look around the outter rim on the headlight (on the black) youll see little bulges protruding. those are the places were the screws are. there hex? (the star shaped) screws. you have to dig the driver into the black glue to get them out. they will unscrew.
hope this helps. mike |
Does anyone know of any installers of angeleyes? I'd rather just send the to someone, has anyone ever done this?

Great tips all around, guys! Thanks. I'm going in on mine tomorrow or Tuesday- Bake went awesome (I still owe a full Tips write-up), but I haven't had time to clear lenses &c. I'm leaning the same way as you, Fulanito- Painting the inside of the lights a reflective color that goes with the Steel Grey. Something in the Titanium range, mos likely. They have Titanium HL Inserts for M3s, so I thought it'd be a clean sporty look to go for. Also, I'm almost positive I'm painting silver over the amber-sides as well. I'd planned to Dremel em clear, but I like the Euro-look of a slightly opaqued clear-eye on the side. Hoping to achieve a similar result. Saw MysticBlue's pics with painted-out clears that came out NICE! So we'll see.
Oh, about wiring to the parking light. That could be a problem since it'd make the angels blink when the turn signal was activated, right? So it looks like wiring to fogs is a better option, and also gives a handy switch for control. Then, if you still want the remote operation (hmmm... that's all bling-factor right thurr!), then use the article on wiring the remote for em that comes with the kit (at least for Predator Chromiums/ Um-Nitza- not sure about other kits). Judging from all who've been successful with this, it can't be Thaaat bad going into the ECU... can it?! |
