steering rack rebuil X5 e53

Hello
I own a x5 e 53 2004 130 000km and I already have a little nois like a "Clac Clac" when I turn.
It seam to be the steering rack (with servotronic) that is"end of life".
I was wondering is a "rebuild kit " does exist like on the E30.
I have not leak yet so could rebuild it if I found the parts.
Thanks for help
(Sorry for my bad english)
Nico

These steering racks almost never give problems, it is more likely to be somewhere else in the front steering/suspension. Could be the flex joints in the steering spindle to the rack, ball joints of lower control arms or thrust arms, in the strut or strut mount, tie rod ends etc.

Hello weasel thanks for your help:thumbup:
I was suspecting the front Rubber mounting but fianly they are not too bad.
I I lift the car an turn by hands wheels left to right i heal a little clac clac
I I look the tie rod It lightly move up to down maybe 2 mm, and ther is no leek except on a hose gasket but not a lot.
The output shafts are ok it is not same nois when the are "out" it is a claclaclaclac when you turn.
now I have only this noise clac clac for example when the car s lightly turning for a small slalom ..
I dont manage to translate the "flex joints in the steering spindle to the rack" do you have a part number ?:dunno: here:

If the noise is mainly when turning back and forth a little or over slight bumps it may be the sway bar links. #7 in this link .

The joints in the steering spindle would be in this link, but the slack in those would make noise when stopped and turning the wheel.

noise

I have shown the x5 to 2 mecanics and nobody found any problem.
I changed silenblocs of front arms, and it did not change anything.
still looking for a solution...If I lift the car, the sound disapear for a couple of days.
I removed the sway bar and it is ok
I check the steering ball joint, no leak no damage.

Finaly i found the noise was coming from the 2 engine mount suspension.
I hardly managed to change them but now there is no more clac clac..
bye

This is quite interesting. I have the slight 'click clack' in the steering wheel too, whether parked or driving. I figured it was the tie rod ends. But I never thought it could be engine mounts.

Can you post any more photos or a description of how you changed these engine mounts?
