trany slipping
hey guys i just bought an 03 x5 about 4 months ago its got 90000 miles on it about 4 days ago i noticed only in the morning even after warning it up when i shift into reverse or drive it takes like 5-10 seconds for it to ingage into gear the enigine just revs up but once it does ingage it shifts great and runs great for the rest of the day also i noticed that it doesnt do this in stick shift mode i called the used car dealer that i bought it from and got dicko from him saying my 3 months are up blah blah blah i tried to check if it was low on trany fluid but theres no dipstick any body have any ideas or had this experience please help |
Take it to a tranny shop and get the fluid and filter changed. See if that helps.
Good Luck! |
i think that would make it worse as for all the grindings in the fluid would be clear

Not necessarily... I understand your thoughts on that and otherwise would agree. It may be just low fluid level and having the tranny shop check it will help give an idea of what's happening. Many discussions have been posted about changing the fluid and most have done so and not had issues.

pressure regulators
Your problem is most likely the pressure solenoid's in the tranny. I believe there are 3 of them and it's a fairly simple procedure to replace them. I think they run around a $100-$200 each. The solenoid's are made of abs plastic and they tend to shrink and get brittle from the heat of the transmission fluid over time. These regulate the pressure inside the tranny and allow it to engage and disengage based on fluid pressure inside the tranny. Here's a link to a pretty good post regarding this issue: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...nsmission.html
I had the same problem and the tcc seemed to fix it. |

This is usually the problem when you have issues with reverse. Easy fix. |
