Shop recommending different tire size for 21"

I'm getting ready to buy the last set of 21 inch

The 10.5 width will be a bit much in the front.. can you stagger it and go 9" in the front?

Check out user J.Belknap, he put the wide wheels up front on his X5, with extended flares they even stick out a bit. and i think he mentioned a little bit of rubbing

Thanks for the reply. They said they have sold over 6 sets with the same exact set up and no complaints of rubbing. They have the pictures of all the X5s they've done too.

If I go up to 275/35/21s the price jumps up another $800. :dunno:

read this. Obviously its gonna be different because he fitted 315/35/R20s, your tires would be a bit more stretched on the rim..

I'd also warn that there are very few 21" tire options. So when replacement comes due, you may have trouble finding reasonably priced ones..

20" is an easier size, but obvsiously if youre getting a deal and feel good about it, then go for it

Yeah, That's the risk. I've been shopping and there's a shop here in town that gets the 285/30/21s for $190 a piece but going up to 275/35/21s is $487 per. :yikes:

I haven't paid these prices on tires.

Btw. These are going on a White X5 and I wil eventually powder coat them black.

Be careful about putting "cheap" tires on your X.

Iericks 05-06-2011 10:42 AM

In 21s there's really no options for "cheap" tires other than Hanooks.
