check ignition coils and boots. What engine does your X5 have? Trying switching coils and boots from cylinder 2 and 4 with another and see if the misfire followed.

I also have a 2001 e39 with M54 engine and bimmerfest help me sort out my misfire problem. I hope it helps.

Me Too!!! NGK BKR6EQUP, just did them a few days ago...seemed better then factory Bosch...but then again, they were old...i did mine at 58,844 miles....i just couldn't believe the price from advance autoparts in the states, compared to here in canada....i can buy 2 sets in the states and still be cheaper then here.....

Hi! Question? How did you know you needed the spark plug. My car is shimmying when I turned on the air conditioning. The fan is working fine.

Spark plug should be replaced around 80K-100K miles as preventative maintenance.

just did mine today.well attempted.everything went smoothly when i changed the first NGK plus to Bosch platinum 4+'s.didnt look like the car ever had em changed and it has 89k on it.but anywayz everything went smoothly until i went to change the 4th one.THAT DAM IGNITION COIL REFUSED TO COME OUT.i had plans made when i was doing the change so i ended up only changing the first 3 plugs that are closest to the bumper(i have an 02 3.0i).any idea why some coils are a PITA to come out while others cooperate?
