Coils at the top of bottom of the spring that are wound together very tightly (they should be touching).

If your going through all that trouble to cut em, just buy a set and install them.
Save time and money and headaches down the road.... imho

Cut it...I did that with my lower B&G springs to get to lowest setting i want.
