steering wheel squeak noise

if it's your X5, it may be low on automatic transmission fluid. for the jaguar, power steering fluid?

Changing ATF fluid fixed same issue on mine. Note that it took a while after fluid change for noise to go away.

any other inputs?

Check under your hood if there are hoses that touch your steering shaft.
In my 2000 4.4i X5, some of heater hoses are located right above the steering shaft and if not properly arranged/attached to hose clamps will touch the rubber boots of the double joint of the steering column. good luck.

I have the same problem -- and have changed the fluid already because of leaky hoses -- didn't fix it. The sound seems to be from the engine compartment.
