Sell X5 and get a Tahoe instead. A Tahoe should get similar gas mileage to a 4.6is on the highway but it is bigger and a better road trip vehicle. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the 3.0i for a Tahoe.

Why must only 1 BMW go at a time? The Tahoe can also replace the 740i in comfort. Plus, you have a Corvette for fun days.

All good points. I am leaning towards staying with one SUV but swapping both BMW's out.

- Tahoe for SUV, road trips
- smaller wagon or sedan w/ folding rear seats as daily beater
- vette for fun

In fact, I'm checking out a bone stock B5 S4 Avant tomorrow with 90K miles on it that may be pretty interesting for the middle slot!!

In all honesty, if they sell the Toyota Land Cruiser in the US get that..the MOST reliable SUV i have ever used. u can use and abuse them without any fear of them dying out on you..plus, if they can handle the heat in the middle east (40-50 celsius daily) with all the abuse, then they will definitely live long in your hands..just my 2 cents

ps i just noticed the landcruiser is 68k for a new on, if you can find an 05-06 model, get that..v6 or v8 wont matter cuz they are made for durability..otherwise sequoia

R-class is pretty ugly, although I do like the interior and the way they drive.

GL is out of the budget

Yup, I actually think they are evenly matched on the ugly factor, but my wife would drive either if we were to go for a six seater. Like your's, mine won't drive a minivan but she loves the e53 4.4. :-) Not to mention having to pry the key of my 4.8 from her now that hers is in sickbay!

How'bout swapping the e53 for a three row e70...

Those are a bit pricey. If I were to spend that much I would rather get a 07+ Denali - I think that is a better vehicle for the money.

A 3rd row E70 still won't be very comfortable as a 7 seater. It just isn't big enough compared to a Tahoe.

Now that you've mentioned wagons, why not look for a bigger wagon such as a A6? If you need 7 seats, W210 E-class with the rear facing seats. Then again, the E-class is getting up there in age if that matters. Gas mileage on a wagon would be better than a Tahoe for daily driving too.

I'm really finding alternatives to replace both BMW's you have. I really don't see a point in having so many when one car can cover both bases.

2 drivers, so no - one cannot cover all the needs, unless I can drive it on the same day as my wife. Which I don't think is possible :D

Wife won't drive a wagon, and not sure how well teenagers would fit in the back of one of those - not talking about little kids here - they are high schoolers. Plus the safety aspect of kids sitting back there makes me nervous, although it must be safe if volvo and benz both offer it.

Something to consider, if your kids are in high school how much longer are they going to be at home, are they thinking about going away to school? Also, how much longer are teens really gonna want to ride around with mom and dad...hmmmmm?
