16 rims on e53 4.4?

Hello, I'm new here and I want to say first, great job! I found the forum in my research for bigger tire size on e53 4.4i. I want to buy one form 2001 I think. I read and search in the web last few months and covered some of the issues I had in mind. Still some left and maybe there will be new ones after I buy it :).

I want to use it as every day car, outside the city. I need the room and as much as possible ground clearance, roads here are off road 30%+ and we got huge wholes even on the highway. Winters are rich on snow and ice too so 4x4 is a must have. I have Land Rover Discovery I on 2" lift but it is to much off road dedicated and sins I have a child and need new car that is more comfy and faster, but still O'K to go when the gravel is over /the city car we use now for the kid is too small and low/. Anyways, I have decided that the e53 4.4 is the car I want for many reasons. I'd like to maintain it my myself like I do for all my cars.

Can I fit 16 rims on e53? I got 4 goodyear MT/R 235 85 R16 tires and I think if the rims fit all is good. I will have great use of some solid off road tires out here, but I must have 2 more seasonal pairs and if I must get 3rd for 17 rims it will take some time. I found just one short sentence here, suggesting it is possible, no confirmation.

Best to all of you and many safe miles!

I doubt you can with appropriate clearance for the brakes. I have never seen anyone post 16's (even for winter setups)

......downsizing to gain more side wall of the tires?

i cant remember if i have 16s or 17s on my 4.4i for a winter set up...if i had an image host i'd post up pics, if anybody wants to volunteer, i'll email them the pic...

16s will not fit, on a 4.4i 17s barely clear the brakes. On a 4.8 18 is minimum.
