well, indy thinks its the crank case valve (ccv). and the dealer tech thinks its normal and not to worry about it. Also indy is an experienced guy who knows his shit and the bmw dealer tech looked younger than me and acted like a douche as well.

I will do some search for ccv issues and think about it more.

A torn ccv would cause the check engine lamp to come on a 4.4. It would be either a lean mixture adaptation limit reached and sometimes misfires will occur during normal operating temperature. Time to find a new Indy.

BTW....I've got 109k miles and my engine started making the so-called grinding sound. I've pin pointed the noise to the water pump bearing(s).

Were you completely oblivious to the post I replied to? Do you even know what your talking about. BTW The e70 3.0 uses an Electric Water Pump.

Screw the indy and the dealer, i popped open the cover and checked the hoses, and ended up pulling out the both the ccv hoses from the heads and intake. They were gunked up with choc black oily gunk, not too much but fair enough. Cleaned it out with a cloth and scraped lightly with a pick. cleaned the hoses and never heard that grinding noise again. I took some pics off of the mess, its on another post: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...k-my-4-4i.html
