Swapping out 132s for 168s - potential problems with TPC?
Hi guys,
Read as much as I can on this, but would appreciate your advice. I was originally going to keep the 132s and add H&R spacers to bring them out to fill the arches. Then I got to wondering about how the Tyre Pressure Control might be affected by adding this weight etc. (even though it works on differentials, so in theory should be ok). Anyway, to cut it short, eventually I'm planning to fit OE Style 168s (staggered). As this is an option listed in realoem for the car (2004 3.0D Sport), should I be quite confident that the TPC won't throw an error when I fit the new rims? One last question about the tyres. The wheels I'm looking at have Diamaris fitted. Fronts are good but the rears have worn more in the centre. Aparantly because they were over-inflated. I'll change the tyres anyway, but does the explanation for the rears make sense to you. Thanks a lot for any advice on this. Cheers, Kev. |
I stand to be corrected here, but I think the TPS works by counting the revolutions of the tires - if one goes soft, it rotates a little quicker and sends a warning. So, if your wheels / tires are matching diameters, should work out OK ?
As for the Diamaris, if they were overinflated, the centre would wear more quickly. Usually the rears wear to the inside due to the camber of the rear wheels. The Diamaris have that smooth strip in the centre of the tread pattern - maybe the wear isn't so bad. |
