Aux Fan Help
Is the Auxiliary fan supposed to stay on at full speed when the vehicle is on? :dunno:
My Aux fan comes on as soon as I turn on the vehicle and it goes to full speed. It does this regardless of A/C on or off. The good thing is that it shuts down when the vehicle is off. Thanks for any input/help |
Anyone? Please chime in
The noise from the fan is driving me insane. It only started doing this once the weather got hotter, I do not recall this happening in the winter. |
My is stay off and only on when it need to....

In the winter time thats exactly how mine works, but now it just comes on at all times and its at full speed. |
Here it is warm now - no Aux fan if not needed. Normally I do not hear it until high summer. FSR ?
From your username I would think you have a Smartnet contract so you can update the IOS. Maybe that fixes all. ^Z wri me ;):nanana: Good luck, Helmuth |
I wish I had that contract.
I replaced FSR last summer and it fixed the climate control issue I had with hot/cold and blower motor speed. I have to get this thing diagnosed because it sounds like a generator at full power/speed even while idled. |
Sorry, I was thinking you work for a company with a name like your username :-)
When I bought my 2002 X last year the fan was broken - seems to be a normal thing after that years. On yours (but that is not a professional answer) it seems that your FSR is shot. There are a lot of articles here regarding that problem. Good luck, Helmuth EDIT: Just found something here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...stor-unit.html |
Nah don't work for them, but we sure as hell give'em a lot of business in my office.
Helmuth thanks for your help. I don't think its the FSR being that I replaced it last year and before replacing that I got a new Auxiliary fan from the stealership thinking it was that at first. I guess I can replace the FSR again being that it is an in-expensive DYI. |
Hahahaha, maybe we work for the same company. Mine is US based and the name starts with a big "G". Rest seems to make sense via e-mail :-)
All the best, Helmuth |

If when you say auxiliary fan you mean the AC fan in the cabin, then it can be related to the FSR. Assuming you mean the engine fan, it is switched with a thermostatic switch. |
