No Heat but lots of AC...HELP
Hey guys,
I am loving my X5, but I got up this morning and it was 49 degrees F outside so I thought I would warm up the X just a little bit before jumping in. I let the truck run for 20-30 minutes with the heat on, come and get in the car and the air blowing from the vents is still cold. I thought maybe it just needed to warm up a little longer so I start driving to work. Well, by the time I get to work the vents are still blowing cold air!! The temp guage in the car ALWAYS stays dead center after the car has started and the AC in the car works wonders. Do you guys think it could be my thermostat? I also have a weird knocking sound that comes and goes from the driver side of the engine normally near the driver front tire, BMW tech told me its probably the mechanical water pump??? Any help would be appreciated! |
I dont think it could be the pump your car would be running hot. Your heater core could be bad or clogged. should think about coolant flush with a flush machine at the dealer, just an idea.

Well thats the thing. It could be running hot and I am not knowing it because some times I get out of the truck and it smells like someone just opened a coolant cap before the car cooled down and coolant sprayed everywhere, but when I look around that area I dont see anything spraying or leaking. However with the running hot it could be a bad thermostat tricking me. I may start by replacing the hoses, and water pump along with my thermostat unless anyone else has any ideas. Im also getting ready to do the timing chain, and plugs at the same time I do my water pump. Just might be a good idea to do all that and try the heat afterwards.

Turn the roller dial between the center vents in the dash until you see red dots.

Hummz was wondering about that. I will try that.

This fixed the issue. New to BMWs. Thanks
