Trans. Failsafe Prog. & DSC inactive...help
 

Today, as I drove in the parking lot of a shopping center (10mph) I got the infamous Trans. Failsafe Prog. The yellow BRAKE light turned on but then turned off about 15 seconds later. About 5 minutes later as I made a slow turn into my street, I got the message "DSC INACTIVE"...no other lights turned on. No CEL.

Any ideas?

btw. I am running 315/35/20 and 275/40/20

battery?
speed sensor?

when this happens, does it throw a code? (cuz I don't have a CEL)

Don't worry too much. I had the same problem. First of all check the brake light bulb socket, check up any corrosion, and also check brake (or stop ) light switch. in my case faulty brake signal triggered both DSC and trans fail safe light. and then both are surely ok, the next step will be battery and alternator.

Don't make a mistake to pay 400 to replace the brake light switch at dealer like me, it is very easy DIY I guess.:thumbup:

Having the exact same problem. Any resolution?

Wtf is BMW's problem, they need to loosen ip the parameters that trip the trans fail safe.

Any other suggestions? I'm having the same issue.
