Has anyone weighed their stock mufflers?

I'm thinking about doing an exhuast swap-a-roo thanks to a member's idea of using an x-pipe muffler from magnaflow in place of the resonater and running straight pipes back from there.

I'm just curious how much the stock mufflers weigh...I'm guessing they're freakin heavy if they're anything like the stainless cans that came on my bike. One would think you'd save a fair amount of weight by eliminating these stockers and centralizing with one unit in lieu of the factory resonator...

BTW Thanks for the idea! I can't remember whose it was at the moment though and don't feel like searching.

I never did..But UPS charged me $90 to shipped to California from Michigan.

Well, my stock muffler(s) is approximately 40 to 50 lbs. each. They are heavy because of the deposit build up over the years. They're probably lighter if they are new... Good luck.

Damn! I figured it was a lot since the cans in my Duc weighed in at about six pounds a piece. I'm getting rid of those fat bastards. I'll let you guys know how it sounds when all is said and done in a couple weeks.

And to give credit where it's due, I thank Gitchies for the idea of the single crossed up muffler.

So here's what I got coming for the muffler:MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

And here are the tips: http://images.magnaflow.com/02product/parts/35175.jpg

I decided to keep the look of the stock tips because it's distinguishing factor of the 4.8is.

I'll be keeping my stock cans till I conclude whether or not I like the new set up. Afterwards, I'll be looking to sell them with tips still attached. So if you want them keep on the lookout for the updates in this thread.

Have ,almost new ,4.8is rear mufflers I am selling and they weigh 24 Lbs each. All they are missing is about 30 cms of connecting pipe,so maybe total around 25 Lbs.They dont feel very heavy and the stainless is good quality(maybe T304).They are very hard (good) steel and a bummer to drill through.:)

Some info for the E53 diesel guys! Also weighed the stock mufflers...19 Lbs each...:)
