Decision time x5

Good Evening,

I am in the middle of a purchase. If you could please guide me in the right direction. I am a current member of e90 post and want to purchase an x5 e53 4.4i

1. 06 x5 4.4i 80k miles for $23k fully loaded
2. 06 x5 4.4 120k miles for 17k fully loaded
3. 06 x5 4.4i 116k for 18k fully loaded

I will be keeping the car for 3-4 years and i drive 25k per year. All the input appreciated. Thank you!

History is clean. All have one time owner. I am not sure if i should get the high mileage. Will it be more maintenance?

I would go with option number one, especially if it is CPOed. I bought my X back in April with 78k miles for about 24k, with every option & CPOed if that helps any. I would be leery of the other two just because it seems like the X runs into some issues after 100k miles based on what I've read on this forum. So far I have had some random issues (see this link http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...puma-case.html) I suppose if options 2&3 have been kept up well they would be fine as well. Make sure you ask to see the service history and make an informed decision from that. If you aren't afraid to do some DIY work you'll be fine as far as maintenance goes. The '06 4.4i puts a smile on my face every time I put the hammer down so that little bit of extra upkeep makes it well worth it IMHO.

Thank you for the input. The only problem with option 2 and 3 would be the milage. Since i will be driving 25k per year. Unfortunately option 1 is not a cpo. Its tough finding an 06 cpo, yet along an 06 4.4i loaded in Socal. Hows the gas milage?

Hmm loaded question... If I drive sensibly :driver:(I'm 24 years old so my idea of sensible may vary from others) I can get about 18.3 MPG 75/25 (city/highway). On the freeway it's usually around 22.6-23.8 cruising speed around 85-90mph.

since u will try to sell it in 4 years i wouldn't buy option 2&3 u will have hard time selling it....

Agree with Denis, given your annual use only nr 1 should be an option. I would look for one with even fewer miles to start with, even if it is not a one owner car.

jst2878 07-20-2011 10:23 PM

i would look for an 06 3.0...That is your best move.TRUST ME

Yea i do like the 06 3.0.better on gas and this baby has no problem giving power when u need it.when im driving sometimes all i need to do is curl my toes to get enough power to pass other cars, beat yellow lights, etc
