My average with mostly highway is sitting at 19.4 right now (reset probably 1000 miles ago)

I've seen as high as 22 and as low as 17. The 17 was city and some spirited driving.

2002 4.4 with 145k miles.

How have you got an m5 cluster to work in your car?

That's the standard cluster in a 4.8is. An M5 cluster would have an 'M' under the speedometer as below.

I have an m5 and it looks identical except the little M the oil gauge the temp LEDs etc... Anyone known if they are interchangeable as I know the old clusters were and I know the newer x5 clusters don't get the horrible pixelation...

I reset my Cons1 every time I fill up. Only way to get a good mpg reading per tank.

Pssh, that's chump mileage. I did nearly 200 miles from NJ to Cornell University and averaged 22.4 MPG @ a 70 MPH average. The speed average was only brought down because of driving through some towns at 35 MPH on the way there.

Still, not bad for a 4.8is. At least you don't struggle going up some hills like I do.

Chump change I would be embarrassed that a 3.0 6 is only getting 2 miles to the gallon than a 4.8 liter V8. Lol

10.7 L/100 km. on my 2004 4.4 for the last 970.5 km. (26mpg). Not bad.
