new X5 owner :)

Hi there

I will be picking up my '04 E53 X5 3.0 on Monday  it's fitted with 20 inch 5 spoke OEM BMW wheels (315 rear wheels). Will post pics once I get it.

I am a huge BMW enthusiast and I have finally been able to purchase my first !

The car has done 96000 KMs with a full BMW service history.

Anything I should know to watch out for with the '04 models?

Does the OEM cd player play mp3 cd's?

Thanks guys ! :p:

check all of your fluids...make sure everything is good to go and has been replaced recently....oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, transmission fluid, spark plugs ...if u get it into your garage that would be the first thing i would do even with a service records....
i hope u like your beemer i had purchased 2001 3.0i with 95,000 with a full service record
never had any problems...i love it. Good luck

Great :) Thanks for the tips! Only thing I wasn't too happy about was that it didn't have navigation, but apperntly its an easy 'add on' . No one knows how much the OEM navi costs? (dare i ask)

Congrats! Keep your fingers crossed and knock on wood often, these things are brittle...lol!! As for the nav, it's only easy if it's pre-wired for the nav system, the early models like my 2002 were not pre-wired so you had to run the wiring from the back to the front which required ripping out the interior.

Congratulations on your new BMW!

I would also look over the service history for maintenance on the cooling system, belts, hoses, CV boots, and air conditioning.

I wouldn't consider a retrofit of the OEM navigation as an easy job. There have been quite a few who have attempted it, some successfully. I think it would be easier and better to go with an aftermarket double DIN unit that offers navigation, Bluetooth, DVD video, and other advanced features.

Is your X a petrol or diesel ? Your intro just says 3.0.

Sokm 07-25-2011 04:40 AM

its a petrol version.

Thanks for the tips :)

The X5 has also been fitted with a switch, that changes from petrol to 'natural gas'. It costs 0.60 cents (EURO) a Litre. It's proven to be very economical in Greece and many 4x4 owners are installing this option to their cars. I'll post pics :)

Just noticed that when I lock the car, there is an indicator light that stays on next to 'P' on the gear lever... is that normal?

Also the left passenger door pin doesnt go down when I lock the car, but the door is locked... hmmmm :/
