Sad, but true....I've listed my x5 for sale....its been an amazing journey with the truck. Loved everyday of it, but right now its not fitted the bill of my daily driver.....it took me a good 6 months to find this one, now i have to let her go....
This site has helped me tremendously, all the nice people here, Tom thanks for everything, I'll still be stopping by to see you...just not with x5...but another Bmw.....
2002, 62,000 miles...everything up to date...i'm just hoping to find her a good home!!!
Prob will be selling off some extras, afe intake, exhaust...i would love to post it here, but i'm in canada....unless someone is really interested, can help with paper work to get her back to the US. Its an american car to begin with....prefer someone in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana...i frequent those areas often, or Buffalo, NY
Whats next...prob x3 or who knows...but i think i'd like to stay with the bmw brand....

Wow! 62,000 miles I wish I could buy it. seriously. How much are you asking?

X5DINAN 07-25-2011 12:25 PM

Goodluck brother.......
How much you asking?

aj4.6 07-25-2011 12:27 PM

sorry to see you are selling her... couple questions?
i am thinking about the carbon fiber. is yours the 3m version? how did/is it holding up? also the steering wheel upgrade, is it just the lower portion? or is it a completely new steering wheel?

gitchies 07-25-2011 01:41 PM

Thanks guys...that is a m3 wheel...as for the vinyl, its holding up well...i just did a crap job on the console...i didn't take out completely...i did it in the winter...lol. i'm gonna try to take out the console and redo it...

The console is tough, but once you get it out, its not that bad. The carbon fabric holds up amazingly well... had mine for well over a year, and it made it through plenty of spills and rain coming in while the window is open.

GL with the sale... lots of life still in that.

gitchies 07-25-2011 03:38 PM

It should have lots of life left!!! Did, oil separator, plugs, valve cover gaskets, gromets, cv boots on both sides, thrust arms, control arms....fresh oil change...funny...this car is originally from Boston!!! i still have the original window sticker from the dealer there....

Nice- i think i got mine about 5 years ago with close to the same mileage as you have now. 103k now and saying goodbye on Wed.

Well....today it sold....sad but happy? it'll be missed....as for a replacement...i'm not sure....i've always been a fan of the e46 models....just finding the perfect one might be a difficult task.....
anyone need some parts? have an AFE intake left over....

and my luck...the battery light just came on....argh.....could my battery be dying....it's fairly new...and same with the alternator too, less then 2 years on both those parts....

Nik 08-07-2011 07:45 PM

Damn X. something always has to heppen to it. :D

wullaby 08-07-2011 11:39 PM

Did you notice any difference with the AFE intake in performance or was it just the sound improvements? How much are you looking to get for it?

gitchies 08-09-2011 12:08 AM

So as i'm getting the x5 ready for the new owner....the battery light comes on yesterday.....driving it in to the shop today....on the way there, about 2 mins from the place...everything starts lighting up, abs light, airbag light.....trans failsafe program....
you got to be kidding me right.....alternator!!!!!! Argh!!!!!
It was replaced exactly 1.5 years ago....can an alternator really fail after that short of time?

I guess we don't need to ask why you are selling it, eh?

I recently sold my 4.6is and replaced it with a new Mazda CX9. It's nowhere near as much fun to drive, but it rides very nice and has a very roomy and useful interior capable of seating 7 reasonably sized people. So for what it is, it fit the bill for us as our weekend family car and the daily driver for my wife for her school lunch business and carpool for our highschool age kids. So far it seems to be getting 20-25% better mpg vs. the 4.6is which is not as good as I expected, but then again it doesn't have 1K miles on it yet and should get better with more break-in.

dont be so quick to think alternator. it could be the abs control module.
if you can't have an indy put it on the computer, you can unplug it and if all the symptoms go away, you can be pretty sure that is the problem. it is located behind the drivers side headlight.

dam...i would have never thought abs module...it was slowly dying....draining quick...then one by one the lights would all light up....well its gone now....the buyer took it provided i buy him a new alternator....fair enough i said.....
