Don't understand why stability control for the trailer would make any difference to the performance when driving. If you are activating the trailer stability control you would have excessive sway. I have towed a fair bit with both an X5 and an X3, and the trailer stability control has never activated, even in snow.

Trailer stability control would brake hard if the trayler starts to sway ? I believe that is what I have read in the manual. But not sure.....

TSC is just another mode of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC). It uses the vehicle sensors (yaw, etc) to detect a type of motion that is typical of trailer sway, namely that the back of the vehicle experiences a pull from side to side, an oscillation. DSC applies individual vehicle wheel brakes to counteract the sway. It doesn't apply the trailer brakes, jus the vehicle brakes. BMW are using it, but it was developed by a third party and is commonly used on several other makes of vehicle as well. More recent systems have incorporated trailer brakes into the control as well.

If you mean the trailer wiring module, which allows you to activate TSC, you can leave it on or not, it will have no impact when not towing and can help with stability when you are towing.

If you mean TCU, that is the bluetooth telephone module. Whole different thing.
