both rear doors wont unlock or open from inside or out?
Hey guys, I haven't been on here in forever but, I just bought a 2004 4.8is in estroil blue.:D I'm having an issue with just the rear doors. Its happen twice in the last 2 days. Both rear doors won't unlock from the key fob or central lock button. The really weird thing is that I can't even open them from the inside out outside handles. My kids have to enter the dukes of hazard style, through the windows.
After I get in the X and drive in forward or reverse the central lock work and they are able to be opened?? Is this some weird safety option? Thanks in advance Rob  |
Sounds like your door handle carriers are bad. Search door handle carrier in the search bar., you'll find lots of info and DIY instructions.
How do u like the X5 otherwise? That's a rare color for the 4.8is :) |
Yeah the estroil was the main reason for buying it. Missed my 4.4, so I bought this one as soon as I saw it.
I did look into the carrier before making this thread. Mine seems different because the 2 doors work or don't work in sync with each other. Never just one of the other? |

wait, maybe, the door handle carriers on the outside are broken.. and the child safety lock is on from the inside. so now you cant open either.. just a guess? |
.. oh and pictures of the estoril 4.8is or it didnt happen :p:

I'll try checking the child safety lock to see if thats part of the issue. but I think it's some thing else. Because once the x is moving I'm able to open from both inside and outside. On both doors

I've had the same problem with my 4.4i but only on the rear driver's side door. Hasn't bothered me enough to work towards a solution yet.
