Rear axle drive help

1 Attachment(s)
This morning I was checking under my baby ( as I always do every week, ;)) and noticed that I have a small leak on the rear axle drive or the axle shaft. Should I be concern about this and how hard will it be to fix it, DIY? What parts should I replace?

I haven't had to mess with mine yet, but it looks like the seal needs replacing. I'll have to look in my manual to see if there's any replacement steps. For now you could just keep an eye on the level. There should be a plug hole to check the level and add more fluid as needed.

Flatlander,

Thanks for the reply. what manual are you looking at for steps? I was wondering if anybody else had the same problem and how difficult was it to replace it? I am keeping an eye on it. Right now, it is only a wet spot, no dripping.

The manual is the Bentley BMW X5 manual which you can find on various online stores: ebay, bavauto.com, etc. I think I got mine from Bavauto.
