Will this wheel setup cause issue to transfercase?
 

Just acquire a set of OEM BMW E53 X5 19x9, 19x10 sport wheels with 285/45/19 on all four corners. Will this tire setup cause any possible issues? I know that the the sport wheels actually came with 255/50/19 and 285/45/19, and have read somewhere that X5's are very sensitive to staggered setup and tire variations. It may cause issues to transfercase or transmission. I just needed clarifications before I put them on. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. What are you worrying about if you have the squared setup? 285/45/19 on all 4 corners means that all of your tires have the same rolling diameter, which is the perfect scenario! If you do the calculation, 255/50/19 actually have a near identical rolling diameter as the 285/45/19, which is why this staggered combo is fine on the AWD system. The trick is to get all 4 tires to have a near identical rolling diameter.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was worried, that with the squared setup, might ultimately lead to transfer case/transaxle damage. I was ready a particular thread and someone mentioned something about potential damage to the transaxle if the tire ratio does not match, or something to that nature. Just wanted to double check. Right...you only have to worry if you have different tire sizes (different rolling diameters). Nothing to worry about if you have the same size tire on all corners.
