I wanna connect Iphone to 2002 X5

Hi all would anyone please advice me the best way to connect my iPhone to the 2002 X5 radio . I have MK3 unit with DSP. I would like to dial the numbers from the radio and answer the phone through the radio too.
One more thing the middle console is really useless with all of those tapes opening that I don't really use anymore, I have seen a post before on how to replace it with bigger one without those tape storages but can't find it anymore. Also can I do any thing about that phone connection in the middle console ? If not can I remove it to give me extra storage space?

The DICE units are closest to what you are looking for, but I do not believe they will let you dial through the radio but rather voice dial.

Parrot

I used to work at a Parrot dealer and the bluetooth carkits always worked really well w/o having many problems. They have voice command capabilities, but I'm not sure you will find anything that supports actually dialing through your radio, only playback through your speakers, interrupt music when receiving a call, etc.

you can buy the bluetooth kit and install it yourself. i believe our cars are all pre-wired for it. I have a 03 X5 with no DSP or navigation and it's a pretty easy install. Do a search for BMW ULF on ebay. I have version 10 and they now have a few newer version. My version works fine with iphone 3GS or iphone 4, no problem at all. Also take a look at this:

BMW Bluetooth X5 retrofit - Bimmernav BMW Upgrades

I also have a DICE install for iphone play back which is pretty slick, got it relatively cheap and it's a breeze to install.

I think this is the best of both worlds, the BMW bluetooth retrofit you can dial through the radio and receive phone calls, the DICE is a separate hookup which plays through the cd changer input and charges your phone as well. I have the cable routed through the center console lighter area.

Both of these have detailed instructions available online. Both are fairly straight forward.

I have bluetooth installed but I needed the Iphone cradle which cost about $350 from BMW - at first it wouldn't charge the phone from the cradle so I got that fixed, not long after it stopped charging the phone again - all I do know is mount the phone in my Tom Tom cradle so at least it charges from there & all the phone/bluetooth features work the same as if it were in the console cradle. Not perfect but at least I can see the phone now.
