Coolant level indicator disintegrated

2006 4.8iS with 67k.

Got a low coolant indication so went to check level. Indicator low so topped up and indicator rose once and then kinda just dissapeared back into tank.

Notwithstanding the coolant loss issue (if any) which I will investigate , is this indicator a part of the expansion tank ?

Now it seems replacing the expansion tank is not a bad preventative measure but it would be nice to know if the level indicator came with it.

Thanks

David

The expansion tank HERE with the blue level indicator switch.

Thanks and I hope that helps.

Joe,

Thanks for info. That clearly shows the electronic level switch but not the internal float switch that gives the visual indication. That was my question,

Thanks

Yes, its sealed from the factory with the internal float.

Thanks

its not a bad idea replacing, as mine leaked after a while. Wouldn't want to overheat engine from something so simple.

My tank never leaked but the float broke and I replaced it when I did the V-pan job.

i had a leak i couldnt find for months. i would have to add every couple weeks, it was a hairline crack in the tank

Cool (if you excuse pun)

That is one item to check off.

Now if I could fix my dang Blue Tooth as my TCU quit today without warning.

Doh !
