fuel economy check

hi

thought i would share my fuel economy numbers with anyone interested

2005 3.0d commuting 60 miles per day mostly peak hour bumper to bumper traffic with a 10 mile section of freeway

average for last two tanks is 27mpg (US Gallons) or 33mpg imperial

or 8.7 litres per 100

at $1.469 AUD per litre i can happily live with that

still loving this car

Hi, I'm very jealous.

I drive maybe 5 miles a day now that school has started. Local roads at 25 MPH with plenty of stop signs. I'm averaging 14 MPG. Woooo!

That's pretty close to what I get which is an average of 8.8 l/100km combined h/w and city traffic (calculated).
I get around 7.6 l/100km average sitting @ 100 km/h on the freeway.

BTW, are these figures from your trip computer or calculated ?
I find the trip computer in mine very optimistic at between 10-15% out, not sure if these can be calibrated any better like you can on some cars.

Your lucky, my 05 3.0d wont go below 12l/100. Combined city/motorway driving, maybe 40-50km per day.

6-8months ago, it used to do about 7.8-9l/100 with the same type of driving. All figures from the onboard computer.

I know it has an issue, cleaned out the EGR, Intake Manifold and replaced MAF. Still searching for the problem.

Also, last fill up, I got my diesel (Caltex) for AU$1.32 and normal unleaded was AU$1.39.. :D

my numbers are calculated, like you my trip computer is a little optimistic

it says im getting 35.7 imperial , i typical get 950k,s out of the tank before filling, i usually fill fairly soon after the light comes on

and the distance remaining is usually around 100k,s indicated but in reality more like 50 or 60
