Haha, the beer unfortunately won't work in Vancouver...... some thousand miles away.
Will check the dip stick since I have one. Thanks for your reply and good luck in Vancouver !! |
I'll drop by in the Zillertal again this December and buy you a beer there! :-)
Did you get your problem with the gearbox diagnosed? |

Hello Helmut
I have an 2003 x5 3.0 d with the exact same indications.
So far I have blamed it on the engine, changing air filter, diesel filter, crankcase exhaust filter, including one injector that had values around limits, after a Bmw diagnostic reading. The car is still acting the same and I now suspect some drivetrain issue, but I am not sure were to start. |
Haueri - curious how many kilometers on the odo?
Helmuth, I booked to go skiing in the ZT the week before X-mas. Will arrive in AT on the 15th or 16th. Look forward to having some hops with you :-) |
Valve block wear (caused by soft aluminium) in the 5L40-E causes all sorts of problems with hydraulic pressures and, in particular, the torque converter lock-up clutch control valves :
http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...rontblock1.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i.../CoverAssy.jpg I would definitely recommend that you drop the fluid and check it, and the sump magnet, for metallic particles which would be a sure sign that the lock-up clutch has gone through its lining. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/i...verter/LUC.jpg A failure of the TC’s torsional vibration damper may possibly be the cause of your vibration problem. Odo is 137000km, and after studying posts a couple of hours, it seems to be torque convertor issues?
