Okay so im on a hunt to do this mod. I want the lower grills of my 4.8 to match the front grill on my hood. I have been wanting to do this for a while and was to scared to simply go into a paint shop becasue it might not come out right.

But now from an earlier thread i found out this can actually be done. So im assking, please if anyone knows about this option at all, can you guys provide me with a part number or a color code(of the front grill) so i can maybe either replace the lower grills if they already come aluminum/titanium, or simply get them painted by using that "color code"

Here is the best pic i could find, I know this picture could be somewhat photoshopped, but It kind of explains what i want.

You will have to paint the grills.Best to remove the bumper and if possible ,the plastic mesh behind your lower grills. This way you have full access to these and can work and spray them.

Have a look at the here for the Titanium colour match.

I did not find the Titan. part # . If you have to go painting route; then suggest buying another set and putting it, in case you change your mind. They are not that expensive. Realoem link

DINANM3 12-16-2005 06:00 PM

All X5 2004 sport packages and 4.8is came with titanium or silver colored bumper grills. they are very inexpensive and i would by them like that intead of painting black ones. Just go to the dealer and order a set and tell them it is for a 2004 4.4 sport. and it will be the titanium color. They swithed back to black in 2005. But i do like the silver better

AlpineMsix 12-16-2005 07:50 PM

WOULD the lower mesh grills from a 2004 4.4 fit a 4.8?

LeMansX5 12-16-2005 09:29 PM

Looks like it will. realoem link

DINANM3 12-17-2005 03:36 PM

yes it will

Thought Imola meant the lower grill pillars to go with the top grill????

Actually, from my experience the answer is NO. Upgraded front bumper of my 4.4 to 4.8. Both my dealer and bodyshop proved that they are different incompatible grills. Surprised the heck out of me.

We (dealer, bodyshop, and I) were wrong. Just picked up my 4.4 after getting the 4.8 bumper put on. All lower grills are titanium. Loving it!

Does anyone know if these grills are the same for the aero kit???

DINANM3 04-27-2006 11:37 PM

The 2 smaller up grills are the same as the aero kit. But the larger lower grill in the bumper is definaltely not the came as the 4.8 bumper grill. It will not fit. I already tried it.

No I had a shop do them since it's a PITA to take the front bumper off with the underride bar, besides some kid hit my door with his bike while trying to learn how to ride it and therefore did both at the same time, along with my front bumper which had a few scratches on it!!!!

Deuce 06-09-2006 07:44 PM

Would they work on a 05 3.0?

Items 9 and 10 here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...74&hg=51&fg=15 should fit your X5!!!!

nicolaasdb 06-10-2006 03:29 AM

the titanium bumper grils are included in the sports package for the 3.0 and 4.4...standard on the 4.8 on the 2006 models....even on a jet black 3.0 like mine they are very hard to see though!!

BWC4 06-12-2006 12:42 PM

I got it done by the paint shop that my BMW dealership uses. I just told them to match it as close as they can to the grill. I do know that they had to remove the front bumper to take it out and paint. I will try to get picks of mine up this afternoon if possible. I really like how it came out
