My X5 is gone....sniff sniff

I sold my X5 finally after almost a year of trying to sell ....I was going to trade it in buy what the dealer was offering was peanuts. So now there's a lucky guy enjoying my beloved 01 4.4
This forum has helped me so much and I don't know if I could have ever done without it.
I will try to get the diesel one in the future, so I'll be back.

THANK YOU X5 WORLD:bawling::bawling:!!!!!!!!!!

What'd you replace it with?

Hal88 10-04-2011 08:09 PM

Nothing yet....somethin better in gas hopefully.

Come on be honest, we all know you're in the back room jumping for joy now that you've passed it on to some other poor sucker...LOL!!

Lol....my X5 was in pretty good shape and I'm sure the other guy is going to enjoy it.
However, my relationship with that vehicle was love/hate......you never knew when something else was going to break and the Mpg was pretty bad too.

I think you need to look at total cost of ownership, not just gas mpg. Especially if you plan to replace with another SUV. We replaced my 4.6is with a new Mazda CX9 and I was thinking it would get 25% better mpg but that is not quite the case. Add in the depreciation cost of a newer car and it may or may not be cheaper to get a newer vehicle with less problems. My main factor was the fact that my wife would be driving it most of the time - she didn't like the hot rod 4.6is very much, and we could use extra space in seating and cargo room, plus the useage was going up from 10K / year to 15K per year and when you start adding up total costs - tires, maint, brakes, repairs, etc. the X5 was looking rather expensive even with nearly 0 in depreciation costs.

Still - I miss that thing. If it were just for me, I would have kept it. I almost did in fact, but 2 SUV's is just not what we needed and I equally enjoy my E38, so I kept that one instead.

I sold mine in August, yes i miss it but...gas was the killer....my weekly driving habits, of 600+kms in a week...it just didn't make sense for me...not when gas is a $1.55 a litre....
Maintence wise, it wasn't bad...you have to expect it when the car was a 2002...oil separater went on it, alternator went literally the day before i sold it...
But yes this site is awesome...hence now i still lurk here...i'm sure i'll be back one day...prob with a diesel....

That is one of the reasons I got rid of it I have another SUV which is more reliable and a little better with gas......but yes it'll never drive like the x5......I was thinking a jetta sportwagen tdi .....took one for a test drive and pretty good torque.
