URGENT Locked Out!!!

Locked out of my '04 X5, with the keys in hand. I have tried everything publicly available and awaiting a PM from UcrewX5. I urgently need the secret through the hatch method if anyone is willing to share. Have the carseats and my wife's work badge locked in and the car that will soon be towed. Any help is appreciated as I am ready to break a window. Thanks in advance.

You may have to go this route.

Call AAA, BMW Assist or a locksmith

Sorry for being "fishy", I've been a long time lurker and never had much to add but always greatful for the lessons learned from others on this site. Regarding the locked out with "the keys in hand" it is really simple: with the batteries crapped out in both remotes I have been utilizing the key in the door until a late night run to the grocery store where the door actuator apparently failed, so the doors where shut, locked, with the alarm on and no way to get in. I immediately went to my trusty coat hanger thinking a simple double pull of the door handle would gain access while setting off the alarm, no dice. Couldn't get to the central lock button and based on previous experience of a family member/X5 owner no one locally would attempt it. In fact the local stealership recommends a window break, I assumed BMW Assist would do the same.

I was successful in getting into the X5 and in a weak attempt to redeem myself as the fishy new member I would like to share my method. Moderators if this method seems over the line to be posting openly please delete. It was quick and simple, but I would find it ineffective for a would be thief as the police visited me in short order once I started.

1. I visited a family member with an '03 X5 and traced the pathway of the plastic line for the emergency hatch release.
2. Used a T20 torx to remove the license plate light bar.
3. Held my breath as I drilled a 3/8" hole to the passenger side of the latch.
4. Checked the hole, then continued to drill through an internal panel as well.
5. I went back to my trusty coat hanger, bent a hook on the end, and grabbed the emergency release cable.
6. Alarm sounded, Hatch popped open, crawled through to push the central latch button and double pulled the handle.
7. Success!!! The hole is completely concealed with the reinstallation of the light bar.

Now I'm still not in clear, the rear doors are still locked and the central lock button on the console is not functioning. I plan on doing the battery replacement outlined in another thread and reprogramming the key to see if I can "clear" the alarm. Does this sound correct?

I don't see a problem with leaving this method "public". Anyone other than an owner would likely not go to this length but would rather just smash out a window to get in.

Still can't get the rear doors open, any ideas?

Did you already do the battery replacement?

and to totally redeem yourself as a new member, time to start an introduction thread with pictures of your X!
