Question about instrument cluster info display features

I was playing around with my driver's instrument cluster and stumbled upon a strange option/function in the info display. If you press the right "check engine" stalk sticking out of the clear plastic screen you get a "TEST NR. 01" message. If I keep pressing the button it cycles through numbers up to I think 15. I also got into a "LOCK 00" function. Can someone tell me what this is for?
