No real specialty tools are needed just an 8mm box wrench/socket, 10mm socket, 14mm socket, extension, socket wrench, and a pair of pliers. The link petener999 gave is a great in depth write up.

Im Thinking of doing a bigger service on my next oil change.
Im at almost 160,000 miles.
I wanna change out sparkplugs
New Fuel Filter
Change oil

And well is there anything else i could do?

And sparkplugs, whats the best?? like maybe the ones that would give me just alittle more power.

Someone can correct me if they have better information, but I don't think there is anything to be gained by switching to fancy plugs that are marketed as a boost to performance and/or efficiency. Just install some new OEM plugs.

Yeah thats what i might do but theres so many different ones out there, iridium, phosphorus, uranium................

I've got the 4 prong Iridium plugs in my E38 (4.4) and they work great.

160k - I'd change the brake fluid, diff fluid and do a pan drop, filter replacement in the transmission and fill it back up with your fluid of choice. Also check your fan clutch and belts! Always good to have a spare belt tucked in with the spare tire.

Im doing my transmission Thursday. As my E38 shares the same transmission, Im going with Valvoline Max Life. I've put it in 3 E38s
with perfect results, hopefully the X5 will like new blood in the slush
box. Mine has never been changed and Im at 177k. It shifts perfect
and of course the goal is to keep it doing that!

Sweet i found this: BMW TIS Online Repair Manuals

And well:
pretty much ive done all that except diff and brake fluid.
hummmmm i kinda wanna get a subwoofer while im still young..........
