depends on what kind of stains... hard water? rubber? tar? or do you just want to polish it?

I'm not sure what kind of stains you have, but the best product for me has been simple green. I spray it on and let it sit for a minute or so...I then take a soapy sponge and presto...no stains. If you have grease, you should wipe with a dry towel before you apply the simple green.....Phil

Have you tried Auto-Sol

X5 Sport 12-19-2005 05:36 AM

Yes I was thinking of that but thought it might be a bit to harsh

I reckon Auto-Sol or peek would be just fine. H'mmm there is this other stuff I'm away to look for web site.

I use Mother's aluminum polish...works great, including those brownish stains around the black buttons.

demondali 12-19-2005 12:21 PM

Those brown stains are the worst!! ... like rust.. but aluminium doesnt rust.. does it! :(

Also rubber marks which i assume are off peoples shoes!!

I washed my car.. it was all looking good.. but these minor details was letting down all my hard work!!

The aluminum polish seems like a good idea. i'm going to try that. probably could keep some aluminum polish "wipes" in the X for quick cleanings as well.
