Need to clear a code but .....
 

I have an O2 low or no voltage code I need to clear out and hopefully it'll stay gone so I can go through emissions but I wanted to know of an auto parts store code reader was capable of clearing the code and turning the light off or would it still be stored and fail me in emissions? My stepfather needs to register the X5 I sold him.

I am not too sure about if they can or cannot but i could recommending you a neat and very very useful app on android/iphone smart phones called Tourque. All u need to buy is the bluetooth OBDC2 adapter(20bux cheap ebay/amazon) and Tourque can read the codes and clear them aswell. On top of all that it can read your ecu readins from boost to Oxygen levels. Give it a look see and see if it fits you. trial app is free btw and you can use this on other vehicles. Hope it helps

A "Peake" tool will clear the SES light, for sure. Whether it will last long enough to pass is another story. A wise investment anyway for resetting oil lights, etc.

The code is an old code, the light is no longer on. Just verified that. It's the stored code that made it fail testing at the emissions office. Need the code to be removed, not the light turned off.

Try doing the on board reset...........

Then right button to test nr 21 and left button to reset everything.
Follow these instructions, Worked for me :) and its pretty cool to get a live view of rpms while driving and stuff.
