Corner lamps; hide orange reflectors
For a 2004+, switching to euro lamps to get clear corner is a bit expensive. I was looking for a way to hide the orange reflectors, and found on E90post some cars with covered reflectors.
Some use carbon fiber, others, VHT night shade, paint, vinyl... Has it beed done on a X5, specially a 2004+?, I didn't see one on this forum. I may try it later, it's at the bottom of my priority list though, but looking for ideas. I used a silver metalic vinyl wrapping from a graphic shop on a 2003. Was talking with Dave Gershaw at Custome Angel Eyes for a custom design when i came across a thread by forum member Sudesh. Tried the vinyl to test out and liked it enough that i passed on the expensive custom Euro-look. Purchased some tracing items from a craft store...and viola!

I wanna do the same!! But how do you get to it?? how to disassemble the headlight?

whoa buddy! thats nice! not too sure about the carbon fiber but makes me think about doing the tint to the corner amber lights

I had a tint film custom cut for my E90. It was a medium smoke tint adhesive film made by 3M. I bought it from a guy on E90post that was selling them. He and I talked about doing them for E53 but we were not able to find a test vehicle in his area. :dunno:

No need to disassemble the headlights...although you can, if you wish to put in the work. mrbmwx5 may assist if you ask him, nicely. As mentioned, i got the idea from member: Sudesh...saved me a couple grand and it actually looked pretty good on first try. I meant to re-do for a cleaner cut but never got around to it...also picked up white turn and side signal bulbs (sylvania). I actually have more of the silver metalic film if anyone is interested. Here's the thread that sent me on this path and pics of my first try: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...light-mod.html

The method i suggested is done to the exterior...just requires a bit of craft. You can also have a tint shop install wrapping or tint. Just be sure that light is still transparent. No need to open but it's possible if you're determined (contact mrbmwx5).
