From what I remeber, you do need sensors and you can use your existing censors.
Otherwise, you can just get some from your dealer.

UCrewX5, isn't the rotor that isn't cross drilled and/or slotted called blank?

If you did not wait for the brake service message to appear before changing your pads you can indeed reuse your existing sensors otherwise they need to be replaced.

okay, back on this....going to buy hardware next week since the brake light is now on and the message says replace brake linings. How many miles do i have to go before this becomes a bad thing.

it means you are under 5mm left of brake pad... how long it lasts depends on how much and how hard you are braking... under extremely conservative driving, i would guess 2-3 weeks life left...

:iagree:

Also keep in mind that there are only pad sensors on the front left and back right. So if you have had even pad wear then you should be fine for a few weeks. However, if the right front or left rear wore quicker then this could be a problem. It isn't uncommon for pads to not wear totally evenly for a variety of reasons, so it would be wise to get these done as soon a possible.

okay, mechanic said it was the rears that were really low, the fronts have plenty left, which he said was weird since its usually the other way around. BMW probably changed the fronts before I bought cpo.
