I don't have enough clicks to give long term info but there's lots of guys on here running them, and haven't seen a single bad review yet.

I got a lot of my information from M3 forums, Viper Forums and Corvette forums before purchasing and again all glowing reviews.

I would buy the updated Proxes for the front. You will wear through your rear tires at a faster rate (at least that is my experience with any staggered setup), then you will buy the updated Proxes for the rear at that time. I did that with the Michelin Pilot Sport and Michelin PS2 on my M5. Probably not a big deal to be on two different versions of the same model of tire unless you can't stand to see the different tread patterns.

Also check the revs per mile difference between front and rear to make sure you don't add a new problem. Tirerack usually lists those numbers.

This has been my experience too. You will wear out the rears before the fronts. So, my vote is buy the new ST IIs or whatever new tires you want to go with.

If you dont' care about matching tires, and its considerably less expensive, then buy the original STs and replace the rears (then fronts) with whatever you like in the future.

If the cost is similar, which is probably true, then just put on whatever new set you like - whether ST IIs, Vreds, or whatever.

Excuse me about going waaaaay off topic here about the type of cars discussed. I wanted to get a quick reliable answer and this is the best place for BMW questions anywhere! My cousin has a 2007 525i w/ sport pkg. 17". He does not want to continue running through a set of 245/45 W 17 a year. He drives almost 50k miles a year. I was wondering if it would be OK to fit a set of 225/50 V or H spec tires on these rims? Thanks and sorry for the highjack.

If the 225 width can fit over the rim, he'll be fine. The new tire size is only slightly bigger than the original size so all his speedometer and mileage readings will be the same.
