rubber mounting engine noise solution
Hello
Im french I hope you will excuse me for the poor translation of my "how to" done in french popular forums and seem to be welcome. So On my 3.0D e535 I had lot of noise while turnig steeriing wheel, and strating to drive. Like big "clac" and some time "claclaclac" Finaly it was due to Rubber engine mounting (suspencions) I decided to chage them mystelf because BMw asked me about 540 euros to do it and the parts cost only 108 euros. http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/8.jpg Le TIS bmw say: move right engine support arm. Remove engine mount from front axle support. it sseam easy.. But the 4 bolt of support are glued and very difficult of acces.. I managed to remove 2 but not 4. And you cant remove the engine mount without removing the arm, because they are too big. So her is the solution I found : remove wheels remoove dust protectors remove under car protection remove glass clearner tank. Now remove the 2 torx from the mounting and the 16mm bolt. remove the 6 torx of the front axle support to down it. To do it easier on driver side you can unbolt the sterring rack too. Like this you have 5 cm morre to remove the mounting. pics will tell you more: mounting in his prison http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/1.jpg too big to be removed http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/2.jpg unbolt him http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/3.jpg use torx http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/4.jpg use a jack to lift the engine http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/5.jpg unbolt the front axle/engine support http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/9.jpg down it http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/7.jpg lift engine http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/10.jpg right side done http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/8.jpg now the left http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/11.jpg http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/12.jpg http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/13.jpg http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/14.jpg unbolt rack http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/15.jpg http://images.forum-auto.com/mesimages/172152/16.jpg hope it will help you ! regards Nico |
