Speaker problem, amp location?

Hi guys,

First, let me say what I have, I have an 2002 3.0 with navi with no dsp. I have no idea where the amp is located on my system. I checked under the cd changer I also checked under the spare, so I have no idea where it may be. Any suggestions?

My next question, my rear speakers don't work, but the tweeters do, would they be blown or is there a problem with the amp? Is there anyway for me to check if it is the speakers?

Also, I don't have a sub, can I add one of the Bsw subs to my stereo as I plan to upgrade the whole speaker system soon.

Thanks for any info in advance

Subscribing to this too. Curious where the components are. I have a feeling my amp is toast as well. I sort of expected a much better sound out of a 4.8is.

Left rear hatch access box, under the CD/Nav changer rack. Its mounted deep into the access box, should have a grey and black plug connected to the top of the amp.

Good thing to know is : Are you running the factory speakers in your car?

Rear speakers are notorious for blowing out, so it might have been unplugged or just blown to the point where they dont work anymore. You can remove the door panel, check the connections, and connect a different speaker to determine if a signal is being sent to that connection.

Yes, you can connect subs to your factory radio with a line out adapter.

Wait what? The X5 doesn't have factory subs?

What line out adapter are you talking about? Like a line level converter? Or is there something that can be plugged into the factory amp, that gives you sub outs?

The sound in my X is effed up. I am pretty sure the amp is fried.

Hi folks

I'm pretty happy with the original sound but I just need more push in the bass so therefor I'm looking forward to installing another amp n a subw in my '03 X5 (Nav and DSP equip). My only problem is that my amp have only rca as input. Is there anyway I can get this amp to work with the car? What can I do/get?
