Newbie from the midwest (US)
Hi all. I won't say I'm a long time lurker, but I have definitely searched through a few different threads here to gain some knowledge and finally thought it was time to officially sign up and see if I can learn some more and hopefully contribute something too.
I'm the current owner of a E53 4.4 pictured here (I need some better pics that show it off more): http://i672.photobucket.com/albums/vv81/ibkevman/X5.jpg I have a few questions about it that I would love to get some help with that I didn't see in the How-to section or in many pages of surfing:

Hi, I also would like to have my Fog lights always come on (Maybe we have to wire them to the daytime running lights:dunno:) ...And I would also love to have all the doors open when I open the drivers side door with the remote, instead of having to hit the remote twice:)

Neither feature is available from BMW. Just not the way it was designed. The double open on the door lock is a security feature, and fog lights are for when it is foggy out.
Things like this can be done with aftermarket modules and/or programming if you want to go that route. |

With the door locks, I just hit the unlock button on the center console. I've gotten quite used to it. |
I believe that you can program your car not to "auto lock" after the predetermined time of operation ( I think 4 seconds at 5+mph?, not sure). Anyway, if I am correct and someone can post how to eliminate the auto-lock, then you would not be annoyed by having to unlock as you turn off your ignition. [You would only be annoyed if you wanted to lock your car manually after starting as opposed to previously having it done for your].

Thanks for the replies all. I wish there were better answers but I'll take the good with the bad.

Welcome to the community! And as stated yeah you'll have to do some custom wiring on the fogs for them to come on with the headlamps to some people it's worth it. As for the locks once again, it's a trait of the X you'll need to get use to. If you ever need help with parts for your X feel free to shoot me a PM or just search around on our site (ECSTuning.com)!
