Parking lights staying on need help..

So I connected a positive wire to the black wire at the light switch and now my parking lights won't turn off. I have pulled a LCM off a salvage and still no luck. Checked almost every fuse and every relay. The only way to make them turn off is to disconnect the LCM. So I think the LCM is getting the signal from somewhere. I have searched realoem and bmwfans for any idea. Also I have the Bentley manual(BMW bible) and I have checked the gm and the LCM and no luck also my interior lights are staying on as well. I'm thinking it's the light switch but I don't want to keep throwing parts at it

LKM needs to be "registered" to your vehicle. Not sure if you can just throw a breaker part in and make it work.
Sound like you fried your own LKM. You need a GT1 interface/program to find out.

By LKM stands for what exactly?

I am here: Google Maps

LKM = Light Control Module

Not too expensive but does need to be coded to your X.

Does anyone know the cost to code it and can I code it myself?

It's NOT the LCM. Same happened to me. Just replace the light switch and everything will go back to normal.
Blew up the switch trying to connect remote start. Just use a relay to cut open that black wire and parking lights will work with aftermarket remote start or alarm.

if the lamp module looses signal from the light switch, the parking lamp will come on for safety. check connections to light switch, and repair or replace to correct.

Well, if you have to replace anything be thankful if its just the switch and not the LKM.

Thanks everyone, really have helped me out. Kept me from killing my x5 :P

I'm going friday to buy the new switch. I thought it was the switch but didn't want to spend the $110 the dealer wants for one...

But again thanks for all the help and this is why I love these forums!

I installed a remote starter without using a relay for the parking lights.
Don't know what I was thinking.
Well I got cluster lights and tail lights or brake lights on all the time, even with key out of ignition.
I tried replacing the switch, and the cluster lights went out. But not the tail lights. So would it mean the LCM is damaged as well?
I didn't even try starting the car, but maybe because I turned the key to ignition, the second switch got fried too?
Now the cluster and tail lights are on again
