rain windshild and light sensor
Hi ! Here is the story ---(x-5,2003 ) Windshield was replaced ....and it is not original german one ! Plastic holders for rain sensor ( basic ones- implanted inside windshild inside car behind rear view mirror) -- are broken during instalation - left side small plastic teth,( some qualified psudo-pro ets did some damage..) A very tighny little peaces of this sensor slightly dammeged ( plastic outside sensor? but not sensor itself !)..It's complicated< but pause electronic device interfiering with this electronic sensor and ... do NOT work as pause usually works.. ( it doesnot work at all on automatic mode with this rain sensor ..most probably there is no proper contact between this sensor and windshield) ,please do not smile....-- without this sensor...Thats meen I remooved one ...and pause mechanizm finally works(!!!)- as normal one !but ...autolamp does not funcsioning at all ( manual onle version !) As the negative result of removal of this rain sensor !
Plan is ...demontage it myself.. perhaps cut and sharpen with abrasive send paper plastic litle uneven teeth ..then varify corelationship between this sensor and glass manually , then, if any sucsess ..my plan is...- to put on epoxy- glue or...---here is the question: - Did anybody had this problems and possibly can shere expirience and results with me ?? [email protected] Regards Johnni dec20,05 |

Here's what I got from that:
The plastic holder/outter sensor for the rain sensor got damaged during the installation of his new windshield. Now it wont work properly in auto or regualr mode due to a problem with the way the sensor is on the windshield; so he took out the sensor, but his auto function for the headlights won't work. Now he's thinking of using epoxy or some kind of glue to get the sensor back on there properly. Have any of you had similar experiences? |
No. I think it might be a damaged sensor, (just my theory) if the sensor is not turning on the lights or picking up when the windshield gets wet, then best answer is whomever replaced your windshield damged the sensor.
On another note, how is some sort of epoxy going to fix the problem? Does the sensor need to be really tight/glued to the windshield in order to work? Best bet is to ask a dealer as they would have the right answer and parts to fix it. |
