Some advice needed

Lately my X5 (83K miles) has been seeing the shop more often than any of my other vehicles in the past! Few weeks back BMW of Sudbury in MA replaced all the seals, gaskets as they suspected oil in the intake. And that revived the X back to life perfectly. Then they noted that the coolant expansion tank had a slight crack while they worked on the motor so they replaced that. And then the hoses to the tank went... Later that week the oil level sensor went out so that was replaced under CPO. Now early this week I noted burning oil smell and oil all under the under carriage... even blew some smoke while driving through the wheel wells.... So back I go to the shop and find out that the left engine head covers might have slight leak of oil from the seals so thats another few days of research and work for them. CPO expired last week but they honored to fix this as a continuing of the same job.... Now I am getting a bit aggravated. Love the X5 but hate driving a loaner all the time.

I been debating if in a few weeks I should trade it in... Want some opinions between a 2006 Cayenne S, 2006 Range Rover Sport HSE or an 2007 E70.

I found a nice EE Sport HSE, 2006 with 70K for $25K - fully loaded beauty but have heard horror stories for repairs?? Enlighten me with knowledge folks.. thanks!

I have heard that you do not want to own a Range. If you are horrified about the maintenance on the X, the range will make your heart stop. I have to say, they drive very similar though.

The natural home of the Range Rovers is an auto shops. I use to have a Supercharged Sport, I did love that truck but I would never own one that is out of warranty. It towed in once a week on average for the 6 months I had it.

Good views, I am indeed leaning towards not going for the RR either. I will keep the X for another year or so... and get the E70 2008 maybe next year when the prices are under 30K. Thanks guys.

If you're looking for reliability go Japanese or dare I say even American made, the Europeans still just don't get it that a vehicle can be fun to drive and reliable. When I worked for BMW, we called it generating revenue through the parts/service department...lol!

Sorry, time for a hi-jack again.

Romeo, your sig made me miss my 91 VR4. :bawling:

Oh, I vote E70. Cayenne just doesn't look right.

I agree Cayenne looks like ass. And yes, if you want super reliability, go Lexus or Toyota. Nowhere near as fun, trust me, Lexus has been in my fam for the past 3 cars. The rest of my family have Toyotas. Again, you will not get the fun factor, but you won't have to do shit other than oil and brakes.
