Radio does not work after battery change
Dear all,
I replaced the battery of my 2006 X5 4.8is for a new one, between the change it passed more than 12 hours, because first I removed the old battery and dropped it at the dealer, and then I bought a new one. Once I installed the new battery and turn on the ignition, I setted the hour and date in the onboard display, and I noticed that all the Menu Options are there except for the DSP menu option. Inmediatetly I tried to turn on the radio pushing the left dial but the orange/yellow square light near to the left dial did not turn on, so no radio at all. All the others things works fine: TV, etc etc, but no sound at all for TV and no radio (no DSP menu), also no sound for my telephone, it is completetly mute the X5. I heard that after changing the battery I could loose the radio, so how I can get my radio working again? Should I go to a dealer to fix this? Could I solve it for myself? Any help will be appreciated it. Thanks and Regards. |
Check the fuses in the glovebox. Then check the ones in the rear.

Hi, Thanks for the info but I already tried all these possible solutions.
1. Check fuse 7 in the glovebox. First I clean it then I replaced it. 2. Check fuse 72 in the rear boot. First I clean it then I replaced it. 3. Disconnect battery negative cable for 30 minutes. Still no sound. The DSP menu is not appearing in the onboard monitor and also the left dial that should turn on the radio is not working for me, when I push it, the orange light is not turned on. All the other things are fine, TV, Cell Phone, but no sound at all, completetly mute. Any other help please? |
Did you check #75 seems like that's another fuse to check.
People have had different things go bad when they lose power. Sometimes just a fuse or relay, sometimes worse. I would check things related to the amp too since you have no sound. You said you took it to the dealer. What did they do? Replace the battery?
