Self-locking nuts

I keep seeing that you must replace these when replacing tension strut arms and control arms.

Is it really necessary or can I just use lock-tite and re-use the nuts?

I just re-use them. Nothing ever fell off and I have had the front of my 4.4 off 3 times now.

Self-locking nuts- reusable?

That makes sense, thanks for the info.

I plan on doing that also w/ some lock-tite.

BMW suggests some crazy stuff sometimes... a new copper gasket w/ each oil change? I do it because it comes in the kit, but C'mon!

New brake fluid every 2 years regardless of milage...

What's ironic is that they don't recommend replacement of things like hoses and belts after xx,xxx miles.

Thanks again.
