Looking pretty sweet, waxed mine last weekend and buffed the swirls out too. What car care products did you use?

sneary 01-11-2012 05:42 PM

Honestly I dont know haha. My friend and I did it and we used his products that he gets from his vendor.

I agree it looks very good...the E53 is one of those designs that the designer intelligentsia will have on their 'lists' of really remarkable car models, off in the future.

For a car 'designed' in the late '90s, and first appearing in late 2000, it has stood the test of time very well, imo. E53s still look very good today, a decade+ later, imo.

Are those 87's 20 inch? I know I've seen them in 18 inch, just trying to get an idea of how mine will look. (knocking on 180k) :) I wonder how far this thing will go? :p:

sneary 01-11-2012 06:07 PM

Sure are!!

Hmm. Who's got a titanium X5 on 87's so I can see into the future?! :)

DallasGV 01-11-2012 07:35 PM

Looks good! And, all the pixels on the display!

Bimmers are timeless. I still prefer my 99 323i w/ 215k over 90% of everything else I see on the road (excluding newer bimmers :P) .. glad to see someone with 160k on the e53 and still loving it, mine's got 102k and I plan on taking it to atleast 200k.. loving the style 87's .. how's the ride with the 20"?

All waxed up waiting for the snow and bitter cold in Connecticut...lol!!! It does look good, nice work.

sneary 01-11-2012 08:25 PM

Thanks!! Snow!! Whats that! I almost forgot what that is. It doesnt feel like mid January thats for sure!!!
The ride is pretty good..I actually just took those tires off as well and put my 18" rims with winter tires on. now waiting for some snow to come!! lol

:iagree: For me the E30 325i will always have a special place in my heart. I never had one-couldn't afford it on apprentice wages! :(

I've just used (yesterday and today) Meguiars Quick Clay, then finished off with their 'Yellow' Carnauba Wax. The clay bar results blew me away, and the wax just compounded the effect. :D Not bad for 11 years old with 106k miles on the old boy!

Here's the results..

Love it! I've got to get mine painted this year. Def. thinking about painting the lower portion like yours is. I need to look at one up close. Is that lower cladding textured or smooth? I want to say mine is kind of textured plastic, which might prevent me from painting it.

Your truck looks fantastic.
