4.8 exhaust tip copy

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these tips? If so are they similar dimensions as the real deal?

They will fit and the dimensions is correct. The design is almost OEM, looks good though but they need to be taken care of from the get go. They will also change color to a more dark brown shade really quickly.

Buy and re-chrome them?

Thats not even close to a 4.6/4.8 copy! Also,do you know the dimensions?
A OE 4.6/4.8 is empty at the back and is welded on top of the OE Silencer exit pipes.
I fitted quite a few of the ones you posted the link.I always cut the back and fitted/welded over the OE pipes.Dont know if yours a 3.0/4.4/3.0D....but if its the 4.4 ,its easiest as you already have twin exit pipes on either side and all you need to do is fit over them.
Hardest to fit is on the 3.0D ,like I did on mine!:)

I have a 2006 3.0petrol. Do you have any pictures of some fitted? just want to check before buying them that they look ok?

hafta' ask, have you checked junkyards for the real deal, preferably with 4.8 mufflers? I see you're on a budget, but you'll never regret getting the muffler-BMW-shoulda'-put-in-all-X5s.

Ill ring around see what i can find, i would love the real deal but thought these may have been a cheaper way to go. Any changes noticed once you changed the mufflers?

Sound under med to full accel is Very nice, NO BLATT from full off accel from mid-high. Power delivery smoother when screaming through first gear and basically a low-rumble at idle, not there unless you listen for it (outside, inside is silent and the nice whoop under high accel is muted to near nothing.. sunroof open is a -pleasantly- different story, but NOT hot-rod loud).
NOTE: M/T, so YMMV, as always. Got mine here and very affordable, though not without probs. donor vehicle had high-ish mileage, so no apparent prob there.
